Pastillas
Pastillas de leche are delicate Filipino milk candies, usually made from carabao’s milk and sugar, and sometimes rolled in sugar or wrapped in colorful papel de hapon.
Originating from the dairy-rich provinces of Luzon like Bulacan and Nueva Ecija, pastillas started as a homemade treat shared during town fiestas and family gatherings. In some towns, the wrapping became an art form—pastillas pabalat—with intricate hand-cut paper designs as beautiful as the candy inside.
