El Dorado St. in Stockton California was the center of the largest population of Filipinos outside of the Philippines during the 30's and 40's. It was the very first Little Manila in the US, where Filipinos had their own shops, organizations, dance halls, and thriving community. From Carlos Bulosan, to Dawn Mabalon, Stockton bred and continues to breed some of the most influential Filipino American scholars of our time.
