This is an ode to all of the Filipina nurses across the world. There is a deep history of how one of the Philippines' largest exports are its caregivers. One of the most prominent cities that were a hub for this migration trail for nurses, was Chicago. These nurse earrings were designed after photos of Pinay nurses in the 60's, during a great wave of migration of Filipinos into Chicago.
This piece was designed in collaboration with UK artist Tayler Pineda (@byTPPJ) and will come with a story book written and designed in collaboration with Anne Fard (@shakerszstories) to tell the history behind the piece.
Please check our FAHM 2020 page for more information and resources to find out more about the story of Pinay nurses, as well as information on where we'll be donating proceeds from this piece.
All pieces come in hooks for pierced, clasps for stretched ears, as well as clip ons for non pierced ears.
